The Department of Orthopaedic and Spine Surgery at Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital, Lahore, was established 23 years ago under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Amer Aziz. The unit was inaugurated by his mother in 2014, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of orthopaedic care in Pakistan. Today, it stands as one of the largest and most advanced orthopaedic and spine centers in the country. The department is staffed by a highly qualified and dedicated team comprising:

With 250 beds at its disposal, the department is structured into five specialized teams (A to E), each headed by a Professor and assigned 50 beds, ensuring focused and efficient patient care. A dedicated 30-member professional Anaesthesia team exclusively supports the unit, enabling it to function round the clock without interruption.
The department boasts a world-class operation theatre suite featuring 10 modular, German-made operating rooms (ORs), each fully equipped with advanced surgical technologies. These theatres operate 24/7, accommodating both emergency and elective surgeries at a volume unmatched by any other institution in the country. Emergency cases, including spinal fractures, are typically operated on the same day, barring any medical contraindications—allowing more time and resources for elective procedures during morning sessions. This is the only unit in Pakistan performing major orthopaedic procedures 24/7, with consistent outcomes and patient satisfaction.
